Mother's Day

"Hey Gru! I finally figured out how to flip these!"

Lucy giggled a bit as she slid her frying pan back and forth, making her currently cooking pancake fly up into the air and fall back down onto the simmering surface. It was a warm Saturday morning, and Lucy was especially excited for this Saturday, since it was a big deal. "Vhat did you say dear?," came a deep exotic accent as Gru walked into the kitchen, not looking up from the daily paper in his hands. Lucy jumped with fright from the sudden voice, and the pancake flew through the air, landing on Gru's face. "Vhat the!?" Lucy smiled with embarrassment, quickly walking over. "Sorry. Here...." She lifted the pancake with her thing fingers, chuckling nervously as Gru stared with frustration at her. The glare soon turned into a loving glance, and he laughed too. "Nice aim zhere Lucy!," he said, folding the paper as he watched his wife put the pancake on a plate.

"Girls! Breakfast is ready!"

Margo and Edith came squealing into the kitchen, still in their pajama's, and excited looks displayed on their faces. "They're pancakes, right Mom!?," Margo asked, feeling warm and fuzzy inside from saying that one word. Lucy nodded, and gave two plates to the girls. She smoothed her red and white checkered apron, which was over her blue t-shirt and a pair of jeans. Her hair was up in a ponytail, tied back by a blue bandana. She ran her hand over the bandana as she smiled down at the girls, who immediately began to eat the steaming pancakes. She then looked around, her hand dropping back to her side. "Where's Agnes?" Margo shrugged, and Lucy slowly made her way to the doorway, looking down the hall for a sign of Agnes. There, in the hallway, was Agnes, holding a large pink paper heart with big words on it.

"Happy Mother's Day Mom!"

Lucy's hand went over her mouth as tears came to her eyes, and she smiled. "Oh... Thank you sweetheart!" She took the big heart and smiled as Agnes beamed up at her. "I wanted you to have a great first Mother's Day!" Lucy crouched down and ruffled Agnes' messy black hair. "And I want you to have a great first one too!," she said. "I made you pancakes!" Agnes screamed and ran into the kitchen grabbed her plate and quickly starting to eat the pancake. Lucy walked in and showed Gru the heart. "You are ze best Mom we could ever have....," he read, a smile growing on his face. "Zat is really nice gurls," he said. Edith and Margo looked up, confusion in their eyes.

"What do you mean Dad?"

He looked at Edith, the one who had spoken. "Vhat!? Didn't you gurls make zhis?" Edith and Margo shook their heads as Agnes nodded. "I did it last night!," said Agnes. "I was so excited, and I couldn't sleep, so I made it while everyone was asleep." Lucy blushed, feeling extremely grateful to her new daughters' loving personalities. "Thank you Agnes," Lucy said again. "It really is beautiful." Gru grabbed a pancake of his own and went to sit with his wife and his three daughters. "Maybe we can go to Super Silly Fun Land....," she said, holding up 5 tickets. The girls squealed with delight, and Gru groaned. "It'll be fun Gru," said Lucy.

"After all, their Mother's Day should be as fun as possible."
